If you are just tuning in, I took over my husband’s office (don’t worry he never uses it) as my home office is transitioning into a studio space to paint mybrushstroke lamps. I wanted to create a serene space that felt coastal & easy yet glamorous.

I just unearthed some additional iphone snaps of the sad state it was in before ORC:

Well Woo Hoo I made it! With a few last minute revisions to my design I was anxious that it wouldn’t come together in time. It was literally last Friday that I felt a huge sigh of relief, here’s a little insight into my eleventh hour scheming:

I picked up my cane chairs from the upholsterer on Thursday, I went with this windsor blue Nairobi fabric from Quadrille. I went with very traditional deep tufting to juxtapose the modern funky fabric. My upholsterer thought my deep tufting could look crazy with the zebra like pattern – it did not help my nerves having to be persistent in my direction! Needless to say, I am in love with the result & happy I went with my instincts.

Here they are before:

Now in their Quadrille glory:

I started my faux shagreen wrapped DIY for my Ikea console last Tuesday. I thought it was going great until Wednesday afternoon when I found the tape had completely popped off; I had to start over & figure out a new route. The upside was I found an awesome new adhesive, it went pretty quickly, & looked much more polished than the first time, I love how it came together! I will share the DIY with you all very soon – it’s SO SO easy!

Finally, I loved my striped rug but it was feeling too small so I ordered Home Decorators Collection sisal rug to layer under it. Again, worried on the timing (it came last Tuesday) but thankfully it made a huge difference & it had served as my first sign of hope!

Ok, enough of my lame woos, time for the pretty pics!

When we hung the faux bamboo mirrors, I heard a choir of angels singing. I knew the space didn’t get the best light, which is why I added a pair of my chocolate brushstroke lamps atop the console, but with the mirrors reflecting the light from the windows, they’ve brighten the space up significantly.

I’ve wanted the poolside glamour print by Slim Aarons forever & it definitely brings the glam factor I was after. It pairs perfectly with my Society Social Bar cart; I am a more elegant business lady with it in the room!

I love the final styling of a space, in particular the malachite ice bucket, blue & gold mail tray, & pineapple waste bin – though all new – they look vintage & add great character to the vignettes.

You can see my CB2 coffee table ended up working perfectly in the space - literally saved the day & my sanity. I love mixing modern & vintage pieces - it keeps things fresh and not one note.

I mentioned I was pleasantly surprised that I loved the look of my husband’s vintage barrister in the space after we painted the room so I kept it in the room. I love to spread out on my desk & keeping it free of debris so the barrister ended up being the perfect place to store items I often want at the ready. I love that I can slide over there for these necessities while keeping my desk clean of clutter.  I think my Minted art pieces fit perfectly on the slight wall adjacent to this work nook.

I had not anticipated the One Room Challenge being so tough. Mostly due to having to pay such strict attention to deadlines & planning my design in a fraction of the time I'm accustomed to. That said, I'm thrilled I was invited by Linda of Calling it Home to be a part of this awesome adventure! I would have put this project off if it hadn't have been for ORC & I'm already enjoying working in my new office space!

Also, THANK YOU all so much for your support in these past 6 weeks! Your encouragement has been so greatly appreciated! Also thank you to our wonderful sponsors; Decorum StyleJayes Studio, Lamps PlusMinted & Wayfair I was completely on a budget & your generosity is hugely appreciated.
