One Room Challenge - Week 1

If you’re here for the first time, welcome! I’m Jana Bek, an interior designer with an emerging lifestyle line of home décortextiles, & lighting. I have a love for bright colors, bold prints, and designing spaces & home décor that help transport you to your dream destination.

I’m so excited to be participating in my fourth season of One Room Challenge & and a huge thanks to Linda of Calling it Home for organizing it!

My husband & I split our time between Ann Arbor, MI & Atlanta, GA & last spring I designed our Atlanta apartment for ORC as a linking participant:

You can view all of my ORCs at links below:

This go-around I’m making over our living room. Here is where it’s at now:

My chief issue with the space is that it’s not inviting. Over the years this room has become an amalgamation of random furniture & décor – the rug is too small, the coffee & side tables blend into the rug, those chairs (which I love) are not ones you would cuddle up in to read a book or watch a movie.

Note the cords behind the television, major eyesore!

So each Wednesday for the next 5 weeks I’ll be bringing warmth, color, and pattern to make this space cozy & cohesive. The couch & beach prints are the only items staying so it should be a total transformation!

Here’s a sneak peek at the color palette – blush pink + navy, tune in for more details next week! In the interim, you can find my scheming on Instagram & Pinterest

One Room Challenge - Week V - Lots of Pretty Progress

If you’re here for the first time, welcome! I’m Jana Bek, an interior designer with an emerging lifestyle line of home décor, textiles, & lighting. I have a love for bright colors, bold prints, and designing spaces & home décor that help transport you to your dream destination.

You can catch up on my the planning and progress for my One Room Challenge:

Week 1 / Week 2 / Week 3 / Week 4

I’m excited to say that I’ve been made major progress with my ORC this past week. That said, I’m fairly certain some details won’t make it for my reveal but sa la vie, I’m pretty jazzed with everything so far!

Our new Society Social Monroe sofa arrived and it’s stunning! Also so comfortable – I could not be happier with it! This is by far the best sofa I’ve ever had. Roxy & her team hustled to make it and arrive for my reveal and I’m so grateful, it’s just perfect.

You can also catch glimpses of our fabulous NDI palm plant! It looks incredible - I am faux reeeeaal! And our Maui rug from Rugs USA - I've you are after the perfect beachy rug, I highly recommend it!

Look at our killer ottoman in our aqua shagreen fabric! Those legs! New Day Woodwork totally made my ottoman dreams come true, they are one talented troupe.

Our Gray Malin piece is up! Seriously every space is better with a little (in this case a-lotta - it’s huge) Gray Malin.

Highland Hardware stand-offs are like jewelry for your art.

I reupholstered our dining chairs and the pop of pattern really perks up our dining room!

I still have a bit to do:

I decided to paint over the aqua wall in our dining room so that’s now on my list.

Our framer couldn’t frame my Hayley Mitchell piece in time so I’m DIYing a frame – wish me luck!

I hope to make/enhance the lamp shades that came with our bedroom sconces – that’s low priority as the look pretty fabulous as-is.

Still need to get accessories and pull the spaces together!

Can’t wait to share the reveal next week! You can follow last minute scheming in the interim on
